Summary
- Available ISO Ratings: ISO 6, ISO 7, ISO 8
- Nitrogen-purge desiccator cabinet provides versatile low-humidity storage down to 0% RH
- Designed for moderate to critical RH control applications that require automatic low-humidity control
- Desiccator cabinet is pre-wired for integration with automatic humidity control system
- Ideal for storing moisture-sensitive materials: microelectronics, medical devices, pharmaceutical powders
- Upgrade to IsoDry® or Nitroplex™ for faster recovery times and more uniform low-humidity conditions
- Adjust-A-Shelf desiccator cabinets are designed for storage of moisture-, ESD-, and contamination-sensitive materials that require automatic low-humidity set-point control.
- How Dual Purge™ and NitroWatch™ Work:
- Dual Purge™ and NitroWatch™ are separate modules that mount on top of the desiccator cabinet. The combined system provides automatic humidity control from ambient down to 0% RH and helps conserve nitrogen.
- NitroWatch™ monitors and displays RH readings from a single sensor mounted inside the cabinet. The Dual Purge™ uses two gas flow settings (high/low) to rapidly reach and then maintain the user-specified RH set-point.
- High-flow is triggered when RH is above set-point, or when a door opens (triggered by magnetic door sensors). The high-flow setting helps expedite set-point recovery.
- The influx of nitrogen gas pressurizes the cabinet, causing moisture-laden air to be displaced and released through the automatic relief/bleed (RB) valves. This steady bleed causes the concentration of dry nitrogen gas inside the desiccator to increase until the desired RH level is reached.
- When the RH set-point is reached, the system reverts from high-flow to low-flow nitrogen gas supply to maintain the set-point and conserve nitrogen. When RH climbs above the set-point, the system re-activates high-flow to accelerate moisture removal.
- NOTE: Because this system uses only 1 RH sensor, the displayed RH reading may not accurately reflect the RH in other chambers of the cabinet.
- ESD-Safe Design:
- Grounding is not standard on all designs, choose static-control options/designs to protect sensitive materials against ESD.
- Static-dissipative PVC (SD-PVC) design features bonded dissipative layers that resist abrasion and retain surface resistivity of 106 - 108 ohms/square indefinitely (unlike spray-on coatings that can wear off after a few years). SD-PVC also eliminates static-cling to help maintain clean surfaces.
- Conforms to DOD Handbook 263, MIL-SPEC 1686 and 1772 with selection of proper accessories.
- Cabinet Design:
- Isolated chambers: The Adjust-A-Shelf desiccator cabinet is compartmentalized into isolated chambers to improve moisture control and recovery. The multiple air spaces are independent and thus RH in one chamber is unaffected by access to adjacent chambers.
- Rear plenum for improved gas distribution: The gas inlet feeds into a narrow wall plenum adjacent to all chambers. The plenum pressurizes and simultaneously distributes gas through small perforations in the wall to each chamber in the cabinet.
- All wiring and gas ports are factory installed for turn-key operation with Dual Purge™ and NitroWatch™ automatic RH control system. Each chamber includes a magnetic door sensor that connects to a central manifold. Wiring to connect the RH sensor is also pre-installed.
- Innovative wall-fusing technology creates a rigid, durable structure for improved weight capacity and resistance to high-frequency vibrations.
- Automatic RB™ (Relief/Bleed) valves on each chamber relieve excess pressure inside the cabinet without allowing outside air or contaminants inside.
- Stainless steel wire racks allow shelves to be positioned at 1" increments to accommodate different part sizes; shelves can also be removed and used as carrying trays.
- Door Design:
- Access doors with 304 stainless steel reinforced frames extend desiccator cabinet's service life and provide a tight seal.
- Santoprene® "e"-shape non-outgassing rubber gasket firmly compresses to eliminate leaks. The one-piece resilient rubber gasket maintains its shape after compression and won't flatten, warp, crack, or degrade like ordinary foam gasket. Gasket is also mechanically attached to the door frame to avoid adhesive failure common with gasket tapes.
- Heavy-duty lift latches prevent metal-on-metal scraping common with rotary latches; chrome-plated included standard; upgrade to all-stainless steel (304 or 316) to minimize scratching, corrosion and contamination resulting over time that can occur with chrome-plated latches.
- Durable 304 stainless steel hinges eliminate corrosion, flaking, and contamination that commonly occur with ordinary chrome-plated hinges.
- Order replacement door(s) to ensure uninterrupted service should a door ever be damaged and require replacement.
- Optional Accessories:
- Nitrogen generator: provides a continuous, reliable supply of pure, dry nitrogen to eliminate dependence on bulky canisters.
- Locking lift latches help protect against unauthorized access - specify one per chamber.
