Exhaust Fume Filter Systems

This versatile system removes smoke and fumes from soldering, epoxies, solvents or other sources.

It is ideal for highly localized operations, for which an exhaust fume hood may be too constrictive or cumbersome. The easy-position swing arm lets you position the pick-up tool exactly where you need it yet won't interfere with soldering or other operations.

The exhaust arm can be mounted to either a benchtop or wall. A complete system includes the following modules (select each separately, using the diameter to suit your requirements): an Exhaust Filter/Fan Module, an exhaust arm (2" or 3" diameter), and corresponding mounting bracket, connection hose, and pick-up tools.

In choosing the exhaust arm, keep in mind that the smaller, 2"-diameter arm may, under full blower force, create a sucking sound, which reminds an operator of the vacuum force but which may be distracting. The larger, 3" arm requires an adapter for use with the 2" connecting hose.

Filter/Fan Module

Designed for remote exhaust ventilation applications, the module incorporates a 125-CFM continuous-duty, brushless blower designed for quiet operation and automatic thermal protection.

It accommodates an activated charcoal exhaust purification filter to allow safe release of exhaust fumes (see page 424 for full specifications on exhaust filters). This filter is now bonded and encapsulated in a sleeve that functions as a prefilter negating the need for a separate prefilter.

In addition, a HEPA or ULPA final filter may be specified for exhaust release into a cleanroom. This module comes with a standard 8"-diameter stainless steel flange for connection to exhaust hosing. It will give you high-quality performance at a reasonable price. It features a smooth interior and excellent flexibility in a crush-proof construction made to withstand rugged daily use. The non-wire interlocking construction allows it to be crushed, kinked, jumped on, twisted, or run over by a truck—it will come right back to shape. There is no metal used in the construction and therefore none to corrode. Use it with dry or wet-dry vacuums.

This hose will handle a great many chemicals (information on chemical resistance is available from Terra). It is not, however, meant to be used with any petroleum-based products such as gasoline, kerosene, oil and solvents. A wide range of temperature uses from -50°F to +150°F are acceptable.
